Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Toolkit for Humanitarian Settings

HINTS develops mechanisms for the review, analysis, interpretation and validation of critical health and nutrition information in selected humanitarian emergencies. This includes the review of existing data from a wide variety of on-the-ground sources as well as more formal surveys. It will advise on the use of the resulting analyses for advocacy and programming with funders, UN organizations, and NGOs.

Initial Rapid Assessment Toolkit (RHA)

The Initial Rapid Assessment Toolkit aims to enable faster and better multi-sectoral rapid assessment in the first few days of a sudden-onset crisis in order to guide the initial planning of urgent humanitarian interventions, identify needs for follow-up assessments, and inform initial funding decisions. The IRA is designed to be used in the field by team members with relevant general knowledge and experience but without specialized technical expertise in particular sectors (e.g. in health or water programmes). It should enable essential data to be collected and reported for each site visited within 24-48 hours of arrival at the location to be assessed.

Reproductive Health Assessment Toolkit for Conflict-Affected Women

The RHA Toolkit informs program planning, monitoring and evaluation, and advocacy efforts. It enables field-based staff with limited survey expertise to collect information about safe motherhood, family planning, sexual history, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and female genital cutting. It also has sampling instructions, a training manual, questionnaire, data entry program, analysis guide with preprogrammed analyses, and data use suggestions.

Reproductive Health In Jordan: Two Year Follow-Up Report

A follow-up mission was conducted in October 2008 and again in November 2009 to identify progress and remaining gaps in RH programming and to continue to advocate for the implementation of priority and comprehensive RH services for Iraqi refugees.
Reproductive Health in Northern Uganda

reproductive health situation in the Kitgum and
Pader Districts of northern Uganda. A key finding
was the lack of access to family planning services
for the Districts' displaced women, men and youth.
In June 2008 and in May 2009, Women's Refugee
Commission staff followed up on the status of
the original assessment report recommendations.
The two-year follow-up mission focused primarily
on the Acholi sub-region of Kitgum, Pader and
Gulu Districts.
Reproductive Health Literacy Course
, 1999The Reproductive Health Literacy Course (RHL) began as a pilot project in July 1999 in the Gueckedou Prefecture in Guinea. The purpose of the project is to bring improved literacy skills and increased reproductive health knowledge to refugee women from Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The training materials produced for this project are the results of a joint effort between American Refugee Committee (ARC), JSI Research and Training Institute, and World Education.

SPRINT Facilitator's Manual
, March 2009The Sexual and Reproductive Health Programme in Crisis and Post-Crisis Situations in East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific (SPRINT) Initiative has developed a facilitator's manual on priority sexual and reproductive health (SHR) services in humanitarian emergencies, including prevention and response to sexual violence. It can be used by persons from agencies, organizations or governments who provide training on SRH in crises and emergencies and who are familiar with the concepts. The manual provides step-by-step direction through each day of the training, including materials required.

The report highlights persistent gaps in family planning and adolescent sexual and reproductive health, particularly in remote areas. In spite of deteriorating infrastructure and short-term funding cycles, a number of local initiatives offer promising approaches to fill reproductive health gaps.
Towards a Comprehensive Approach of Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Needs Of Women Displaced by War and Armed Conflict

The development of this guide is part of an interdisciplinary policy research for the Belgian Development Co-operation into the sexual and reproductive rights and needs of women displaced by war and armed conflict. The basic assumption of the guide is that sexual and reproductive rights are human rights, and more specifically women's human rights, which are an inalienable, integral and indivisible part of universal human rights. Taking this rights approach as a starting point the promotion and protection of these rights should be considered in all humanitarian relief operations and should be a priority of all SRH programmes.
We Want Birth Control: Reproductive Health Findings in Northern Uganda

The assessment team visited the districts of Kitgum and Pader and also visited a youth center and clinic in Gulu. In general, the findings revealed that although some basic services were in place, many were sorely lacking.
Women's Reproductive Health in Liberia

The survey goal is to highlight the critical need to continue funding and building programs during a time when traditional humanitarian aid has ceased and development has not yet begun, leaving the population without essential public health services.
